FttX-Cockpit

Project Management for large FttX deployments

Constructing broadband networks is much more complex than just physical network build

FttX-Cockpit produces comprehensive reports and documentation during deployment

Deployment projects grow

Does the organisation grow as well?

Deployment and investment projects actually grow very fast regarding size and number in a manner which only very few companies have previously had to deal with. In addition: there are far more areas to deploy – on the one hand due to tough deadlines to realise government funded projects – on the other hand due to increasing number of commercially driven projects.

To be able to complete our projects to high quality standards and on-time and in-budget we at seim & partner had to re-think and change our processes.

Against this background we decided to realise a (new) system for the rollout management of huge telco networks. The system comprises the commercial and the technical aspects of project management far better than available today. The reason we developed this product was because we couldn’t find a suitable system on the market. ]project-open[ is the basis for the software – an open-source project management software which we've used for several years. The new system development is a mutual effort between seim & partner and the team around ]project-open[.

Functionality

and Benefits

  • Benefit of cost reduction due to faster ordering processes (order to cash) of up to 3% for the overall project budget
  • Make use of all possibilities to reduce controlling efforts (up to -20% concerning all controlling efforts)
  • First time reporting for all stakeholders on a daily basis will become possible (principal, telco operators, government departments etc.)
  • Your end customers can track and monitor deployment progress on a daily basis
  • Gains in process efficiency by automated document management
  • Reduce the effort required to provide documentation for government funded projects

Data model

The data model represents all information needed for contractually and billing purposes: contracts and orders respectively including all corresponding attributes. Tasks enable the project manager to do resource and time management and contain in turn all contractual and / or billing relevant network elements including all necessary attributes, esp. all geo-referenced data. The system allows an external data entry by building companies. All necessary reports (taking a project management perspective) are generated, either in table form or as maps.

Functions

and interfaces

FttX-Cockpit provides interfaces to construction companies, network operators, public funding organisations and for reporting purposes for all stakeholders. Building lots can be represented as individual contracts including all different types of construction work. They serve as basis for progress control and billing as well. All functions needed to perform project management, i.e. detection of scheduling conflicts, delays, resource management are supported.

Terms

and conditions

Our model of licensing FttX-Cockpit gives you the freedom to choose between two different approaches:

  • Purchasing a license based on a one time fee plus monthly maintenance fee. The amount of both price components depends on the budget and size of your project. We recommend this model where you plan to deploy several projects during the next few years. For further information please contact us.
  • The other option is a SaaS model based on a monthly recurring fee per building connection (homes passed). We recommend this model for onetime projects not exceeding a budget of 5-10 Million €. For further information please contact us.

We plan to deliver two main releases per year, which will always implement feature updates and enhancements. In addition we plan for maintenance windows which will be synchronised.
